This 3-hour intensive course will present basic yet comprehensive information on the many interacting systems necessary to create successful gardens including:

Site analysis
Design
Weed, pest, and disease control
Soil & Irrigtaion

We will go over a variety of plant based, practical design styles that can serve as examples to students on how to get started putting together a concept for their own garden, as well as look at problem situations and solutions.

Back by popular demand! The American Garden School is hosting an open garden day and workshop at instructor Kate Frey's home garden. A perfect opportunity to see the principles and practices of The American Garden School expressed and demonstrated, we will be doing a morning workshop and also opening the garden up to the public.

The Workshop will cover design, site preparation, building health soil, weed control, irrigation design, plant care  and will look at some great plant varieties.

The Open Garden is available for people to wander and enjoy the unique and relaxing spaces of the garden.

Containers and trellises allow us to enjoy the fruits of gardening in small spaces, and add structure and dimension to the garden.
